SGA BBQ lr

The Student Government Association welcomes all of our incoming Summer C students! We invite you to attend a welcome barbecue in your honor. It will be a perfect opportunity to meet with members of various student organizations from all parts of campus and find out how to get involved in whatever your interests may be. There will be free hamburgers and hot dogs, a DJ, and a novelty photo booth for your enjoyment, all courtesy of the Student Government Association. We hope you can join us and once again, welcome to the Seminole community!

If you are a registered student organization that would like to have a table at this event, please contact Elliot Turner (egt07@fsu.edu) or Dan Brinson (db07d@fsu.edu).

Please help us rate the effectiveness of the Free Newspaper Readership Program by taking the poll

Students, in an effort to serve you better, please answer this quick poll.

Background:
SGA currently funds a $25,000 dollar/year program that allows students access to free newspapers during the Fall and Spring semester. The 3 papers that we distribute are the New York Times, Tallahassee Democrat and USA Today. These papers are placed in 5 distribution bins throughout the campus that students can access using their FSUcard. The bin locations are: Oglesby Union, Bellamy, Fresh Food, University Center (side A), and Diffenbaugh/Williams. The purpose of the Readership Program is to promote civic engagement and broaden awareness through newspaper readership among college students. The newspapers feed student curiosity about pertinent world issues and increase awareness of news that affects their lives.

Welcome to the new FSU Student Government Association Executive Branch Web Blog!

seal_sbp1

On behalf of the Executive Branch of The Florida State University Student Government Association, welcome to our new blog! Please feel free to subscribe to our blog to have up to date information regarding University issues and student concerns that the Student Body President and Executive Branch are working on.

It is with great humility and excitement that we look forward to serving as your 2009-2010 Student Body President and Vice President. We hope that you will find our University to be a place that edifies your leadership, your service, and your scholarly pursuits. FSU offers everything from our nationally respected athletic and academic programs to our history of student activism, and embracement of diversity, all of which we respectfully credit to the undying spirit, courage, and devotion of the proud Seminole.

Each day someone within the Seminole community takes a step towards creating history. Our peers are being recognized as Rhodes and Truman Scholars, our faculty is conducting cutting-edge research, and our sports program is leading the way with its athletic achievements. As we continue to build on these notable traditions, we invite you to take advantage of the many opportunities at our historic institution.

Remember that college is what YOU put into it. Be more than a student that just goes to class and comes home. Be a part of the community around you. Build your character and who you want to be. With all the opportunity and diversity on our campus, we challenge you to reach out to others, make new friendships, become a student leader, seize new opportunities, and embrace your college experience. FSU shouldn’t just be a place where you go to college. It should be a place where you experience college.

Our administration is prepared to represent your interests in the Student Government Association, on the Board of Trustees, in the Tallahassee community, and at all higher education governing bodies. We will continue to provide logical, practical, and researched solutions while following in the tradition of inspired leadership, diversity, loyalty and love for the Florida State University.

We encourage you to visit us in the Student Government Association offices located on the second floor of the Oglesby Student Union, Please feel free to contact us at (850) 644-1811 or visit our website at http://sga.fsu.edu.

In TRUE Seminole Spirit,

Robert J. Jakubik
