Seminoles,

I would first like to welcome you to the Student Government Blog, which we hope will become an invaluable tool for all students who want to be informed about all three branches of the Student Government Association.

As you may have seen, we are undergoing several changes in our online presence to better inform, serve, and connect with all students about the current ongoings of SGA. Recently we overhauled our website, making it easier for all students to become familiarized with their elected officials and the work we conduct.

We have restructured all the content on our website facilitating the access to resources such as: how to obtain funding, promoting different around campus, finding a student organization that interests you, and much more!

Additionally, we have constructed a bi-weekly broadcast named “The Seminole Source” which will be hosted by different SGA officials in an effort to keep you updated with programming, ongoings within SGA, and any news that may affect the student body. Be sure to check our first episode below, but be on the look out for new episodes made available via our Youtube Channel.

FSU Announces New Off Campus Housing Website!

FSU Announces New Off-Campus Housing Website

Service Educates Students, Makes It Easier to Find Off-Campus Housing in the FSU Vicinity

TALLAHASSEE, FL — February 1, 2010 — Today the Florida State University Student Government Association (FSU SGA) launched the Florida State University Off-Campus Housing Service (http://offcampushousing.fsu.edu). Each year the university receives requests from students, parents, and faculty/staff for information and assistance finding off-campus housing. This new web-based service provides students with a user-friendly searchable database to find off-campus housing in the FSU area, and provides area owners/managers with a tool to market their properties to the Florida State community directly on the Florida State website. The service will also include educational components designed to help students become good citizens of the Tallahassee Community.

FSU Student Body President Robert Jakubik is pleased to introduce this new program to the FSU community, “SGA is extremely excited to partner with Off Campus Partners, a company with a proven track record of linking university renters/buyers and properties together, as our partner to implement this new program in offering this new service. I believe that the service will help provide equal access for large and small landlords to advertise their properties to the FSU student market. This new service will also provide students and landlords with useful tools and information to assist with their renting experience.” Off Campus Partners (www.offcampuspartners.com) provides software and services to simplify the off-campus housing search process.
Curtis Morgan, OCP Account Executive for the FSU Off-Campus Housing Service, feels that the new service offers a number of benefits to the Florida State Community and area owners/managers: “The user-friendly site will include a fully searchable database that FSU renters and buyers will use to find off-campus housing.” This includes photographs and floor plans, maps with proximity to the FSU Campus, direct links to a property’s email, application/lease, and website, as well as unlimited text descriptions and list of amenities.
FSU Off-Campus Housing Service Availability

The FSU Off-Campus Housing Website is live as of February 1, 2010 and is available to students, parents, and faculty/staff to login and view.
